2. Radiation Therapy

This involves administering high-energy beams that kill cancer cells to take care of the remaining cancer cells, after surgery. Usual radiation surgery is administered externally but in specialized cases radioactive sources that emit high energy beam may be administered in to the vagina.

The usual side effects encountered during radiation therapy include skin rashes and reddening around cervix, and tiredness.

3. Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is intensive therapy which addresses the aggressively multiplying cancer cells and metastasized cancer cells. It involves administering chemotherapeutic medicines. By administering the medicines into the vein they reach into the blood circulation. These reach the target site and start showing their therapeutic action.
Initially they used to have severe side effects but with advancement in drug development, the chemotherapeutic drugs of today show milder side effects. Not all patients undergo all these side effects. These include nausea, vomiting, and hair loss, which is temporary.
