Prateek Chowdhary

Mumbai

Prateek Chowdhary is 30 years old and a resident of Delhi. While pursuing his higher studies for his master’s, he went on a college trip to Mumbai. It all went smooth and simple. All the participants of the tour were examined and cross-checked based on their medical health and were allowed to go for the Mumbai trip only after receiving a health checkup. Prateek who was 200 kilos at the age of 30 also went on the trip after having a routine checkup. The problem arose when Prateek started having convulsions because of the high temperature of the place. He was immediately given first aid, which went unaffected on him.

How did Prateek receive help?

  • Prateek, who was having convulsions during the time of reaching Mumbai, was told to stay calm and manage himself while holding his breath.

  • Prateek was admitted to nearby Fortis Hospital Mulund, where he received better management services and medical services.

  • The doctors helped him maintain an atmosphere around him so that he could think of positivity only.

  • After receiving the tests and all physical or medical examinations, Prateek was informed to go through bariatric surgery. He was informed that because of his heavyweight, he developed medical conditions like depression and a high risk to the heart.

  • Prateek, who was left by his teammates and was guided all by his parents, received bariatric surgery under the examination or presence of a pulmonology doctor, cardiology doctor, and general physician.

  • It took him 5 days in the hospital and he was relieved after he heard the news that he lost almost 40 kilos.

Prateek, who had to go through similar therapies or surgeries at least three times to maintain his normal body weight, is now thankful to the doctors of Fortis Hospital Mulund for timely treatment. He is thankful to God and the teammates who helped him reach the hospital at the right time.

Akhil

Mumbai

Akhil is a resident of Mumbai and is around 23 years old. He was perfectly sharpening his talent with first-hand experiences and was eagerly teaching the students from class 1 to 5 in a school. Since he was a junior teacher, he was not allowed to perform various responsibilities. In 2019, when the pandemic hit the country, the schools brought various changes. Although Akhil was allowed to be in the team and teach students while being online, there were many tasks that he was not allowed to perform like preparing question papers and talking to parents.

How did Akhil receive help?

  • The major twist came in the life of Akhil when in January 2020 he was told to resign the position because the principal had different plans for the primary classes.

  • Seeking his resignation, Akhil started spending his days playing online games and doing some entertainment-related things.

  • It was already the time of the pandemic, so Akhil was not having more options to spend the day.

  • One day in the morning, Akhil didn't wake up and kept sleeping till 5 pm the next day. He was so much involved in sleeping that his parents had to call the doctor to wake him up.

  • The doctor of Fortis Hospital Mulund, Mumbai asked for immediate admission to the hospital and asked the parents to accompany him. Meanwhile, the parents were asked a few questions like whether Akhil was taking some drugs or not. The parents gave simple replies “no” and continued with the therapy.

  • Akhil had to go through some tests like MRI, ECG, CT scan and BP check, and ultrasound. All the tests were normal.

  • After talking to Akhil, Doctors noticed some changes in behavior that were not looking normal like a 23-year-old person.

  • Akhil developed acute depression and on becoming aware of it, he started counting the symptoms similar to depression. He started bumbling and was behaving like a child. This is what the psychiatric specialist of Fortis Hospital Mulund showed to the parents.

Recent Condition -

Although today Akhil is still taking medicines, it is because of the hard work, patience, and courage of the family and the doctors of Fortis Hospital Mulund, Mumbai who supported Akhil throughout his journey. Today, Akhil is having two odd jobs in his hand working simultaneously and working from home. He is happy with himself while having financial independence and the support of his family. There are many people in India, who often ignore mental health just because they have become old.
