Radical Prostatectomy is perfomed to treat localized prostate cancer, and disallowing it to spread beyond the prostate gland.

Before surgery, your doctor will conduct some tests to check your bladder and urethra.
You may be asked not to eat or drink a few hours before the procedure. In some cases, a laxative will be a day before the surgery to clean the bowels.
Blood thinning medication has to be stopped atleast a week before the surgery.
Radical Prostatectomy is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 3 to 4 hours depending on the type of technique used by your doctor.
