The procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia by an experienced eye surgeon. It generally takes 40 to 60 minutes to perform the surgery.

After the procedure is complete, the patient may return home on the same day. Generally, the operated eye will be red for a couple of days after the surgery. Eye redness is expected to fade completely in 2 to 3 weeks.
Double vision and light sensitivity are commonly experienced after the procedure. The vision will become normal in 5 to 7 days.
Some patients may experience a noticable variation in moving eyes for a couple of days, as the brain learns to control the eye movements.
