Blood Type Test- Doctors will determine if the blood type of the donor is compatible with the patient. 

Tissue Type Test- This test is performed to check the genetic markers in the donor and the patient. 

Crossmatch- Before a kidney transplant, the doctor will mix the patient’s blood with the donor’s blood in a lab. 

Physical examination- A complete exam of your health including X-rays, blood tests and other tests will be conducted.

Firstly, you will be given general anesthesia. This will keep you asleep through the surgery.

The new kidney will be placed in your body through this incision. This is followed by connecting your blood vessels. The healthy kidney’s ureter will then be attached to your bladder.

After the surgery is complete, you can expect the following:

Hospitalization- The doctors will keep you in the hospital for several days. They will monitor the condition of your overall health along with the newly transplanted kidneys. 

Avoid exhaustion- You should not lift heavy objects or indulge in physical activity that may exhaust you. 

Frequent checkups- You will have to make regular visits to the doctor for some days post-surgery. 

Medications- The doctor will prescribe you certain medications. You will most likely have to take these medicines for the rest of your life to maintain the health of your kidneys.

Kidney transplantation surgery can treat kidney failure or chronic kidney diseases. It cannot cure the diseased kidney. This procedure poses certain risks and complications:
