3. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB): In this type, the surgeon places an inflatable band around the stomach. When the band inflates, it acts like a belt and tightens the stomach. This causes the creation of 2 pouches in the stomach with the upper pouch restricting the amount of food you can eat.
4. Sleeve gastrectomy: This is one of the newest forms of weight loss surgery. In sleeve gastrectomy, a certain portion of your stomach is removed and the remaining portion is shaped like a tube. This reduces the absorption of nutrients and limits the amount of food you can eat.
