Dr. A K Dewan

Dr. A. K. Dewan has been a cancer surgeon for 25 years. For the last 12 years, Dr. Dewan has been Senior Consultant and is now also the Medical Director at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in Delhi, India's premier cancer care and research center. Dr. Dewan did his MBBS, Community Health and Preventive Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi and his MS, General Surgery from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He earned his M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology) from Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai. He gained experience in institutes such as Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi. His areas of interest include head and neck surgery, composite resection for oral cancer, conservative laryngeal surgery, and laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer, maxillectomy, skull base surgery, parotidectomy, thyroidectomy, various neck dissections, etc. He trained under Dr. KK Pandey, who was not just his senior at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi but was also his personal teacher and mentor during his undergraduate medicine studies days. His motto is “Cure & Care with Passion”. In his own words, his patients are his current priority and Dr. A.K Dewan spends 12 hours of every day at the hospital, staying on call 24X7. On an average, he conducts 50 major and 100 minor cancer surgeries every month and has been involved in over 13,000 surgeries throughout his career.
