Dr. Abhijit Taraphder

Dr. Abhijit Taraphder is an experienced Nephrologist based in Kolkata and has been practicing since 1987. He is currently Chief of Academics and Research, and Senior Consultant, Department of Nephrology, at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata. He obtained WHO Fellowship Award and completed the Fellowship in University of Minnesota, USA in1995. He has been a member of Scientific Committee, Indian Society of Nephrology during the period 2008-2010 (both years inclusive) and a member of Core Group to finalize dialysis quality in India. He is also an expert in faculty selection/promotion at SGPGI, Lucknow. Dr. Taraphder holds an MBBS from Calcutta Medical College (1982), an MD in General Medicine from Calcutta University (1986), and a DM in Nephrology from PGIMER Chandigarh (1991). He excelled at academics, winning numerous medals awards during the MBBS course, and either topping or being a rank-holder in the entrance and final exams. He is actively involved in the Indian Society of Nephrology, and has delivered lectures and presented papers at ISN events and other medical conferences. Dr. Abhijit Taraphdre also has the teaching experience as a Lecturer to Associate Professor, Dept. of Nephrology, IPGME&R, Kolkata (1993-2002) and was also involved in teaching postdoctoral students of DM in Nephrology, six students in each batch, the course being recognized by the Medical Council of India.
