The pioneer in introducing the intra-operative MRI technology for brain tumor surgeries in India, and the winner of the ‘Best Surgical Resident of the Year Excellence Award’ (IMA). His expertise in performing tumor surgeries, operating in brain lab with the use of ALA dye for the precision of tumor removal and cerebrovascular surgery, is well-known in India and abroad.

As a visionary, Dr. Ajaya Nand Jha recognized the need and potential of sub-specialisation in Neurosurgery and developed a specialized team for Neurovascular Intervention, Endoscopic Spine surgery, Endoscopic Skull Base surgery, Functional Neurosurgery and Radio Surgery. He has developed a team for Stroke, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Paediatric Neurology and Sleep Medicine and he believes that this team, along with the latest technology, is the way to provide optimum patient care. As a leading academician at Medanta, Dr. Ajaya Nand Jha has initiated several fellowships and training programs for doctors, technicians, and nurses in order to promote quality and ethical practice.

Before Medanta, he was the Director of Neurosciences at Max Healthcare, the Head of Neurosurgery and a Senior Consultant of Neurosurgery at Indraprastha Apollo. His special interests comprise Brain Tumour Surgery using pre-operative MRI, Suite Radio Surgery, Cerebrovascular Surgery, Image-guided Surgery and Frameless Stereotaxy Spinal Surgery. Dr. Jha holds the MBBS degree from AFMC, Pune after which he held a Surgical Residency at the Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, and went on to Manchester, UK to pursue Surgical Neurology.

He also has the fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK. Dr. Jha is an eminent member of the British Medical Association, the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, Manchester Medical Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons (USA), International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (USA), the Neurological Society of India and the Indian Medical Association. He is the President of Delhi Neurological Association and the Indian Society for Cerebrovascular Surgery.
