Dr. J M Wadhawan

Dr J.M Wadhawan is a renowned Psychiatrist currently associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi as a Senior Consultant. With degrees of MBBS & MD, both from Pune University and PhD from the National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Bangalore, Dr Wadhawan is the only psychiatrist in India who has been associated with the first and only Indo Soviet Space Odyssey held in the year 1984. He was the Head of Department at Neuropsychiatry Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore and was in-charge of the selection of cosmonauts, their pre, post & in-flight training & the Biomedical Research projects of the space program. He has also served as the Chief of the Psychiatry Department at the Defense Institute of Psychological Research, Ministry of Defense, India. He received the fellowship of WHO in the year 1985 and the American Psychiatry Association in the year 1988. Dr. Wadhawan’s contribution in the field of Psychiatry is commendable. He has a large number of research publications to his credit. His areas of interest include Schizophrenia, Manic-depressive Psychosis and Depression.
