Dr. J P S Sawhney

Dr J.P.S. Sawhney is a Cardiologist of national repute, associated with the Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi. He holds multiple positions at the hospital, including the posts of Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Chief of the Clinical & Preventive Cardiology Department, Chairman of the Department of Cardiology and the Member of the Board of Management. With degrees of MBBS from the V.S.S. Medical College under the Burla Sambalpur University, MD and DM from the PGI in Chandigarh, Dr. Sawhney was a bright student throughout his academic career. He was a topper in Sambalpur University and received the award for the Best Graduate. He was also awarded 5 gold medals during his MBBS career, the Pfizer's Gold Medal for Post Graduation in Medicine, Silver Jubilee Oration Award – Academia 2001, Dr. Venkat Rao Oration Award – Academia 2004, Rashtriya Rattan Award from the International Study Circle, IMA Special Award in 2005, Distinguished Service Award from the IMA of Medical Specialties in 2007, and more. With a special interest in Clinical and Preventive Cardiology, he was awarded the fellowships of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), European Society of Cardiology (FESC), International Medical Science Academy, as well as the Teaching Fellowship of the PGI in Chandigarh. With several publications in National & International Journals, he has also presented many papers in National and International Conferences on Cardiology. He was the Guest Speaker at the CSI, and various academic forums organized by the IMA, API, and other reputed organizations. With over 100 talks on Preventive Cardiology in various forums in India, Dr. Sawhney was also invited as a Guest Speaker at several International Conferences of Cardiology held worldwide. A committed doctor, he is the President of Delhi Medical Association, and a member of various reputed organizations, including the Cardiological Society of India (CSI), ProCOR International Advisory Council Dr Bernard Lown's Research Foundation (USA), European Society of Heart Failure, European Society of Preventive Cardiology, American Heart Association (AHA), & more. Dr. Sawhney has the credit of organizing various conferences & trainings, including the “Healthy Heart” Symposia in 1999, Refresher Course in Preventive Cardiology for family physicians in 2000, ECG Workshop in 2002, and many more.
