Dr. Vikas Gupta

Dr. Vikas Gupta is a well known Senior Consultant at Max Hospital with Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery as his area of function. He did his M.B.B.S and MS in Orthopedics from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi with flying colors. Starting his career path as an Associate Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.I.M.S.), he was able to do more than 3000 successful hand & upper extremity surgeries in his lifetime. Not only this, Dr. Gupta is also acclaimed for initiating numerous procedures. In fact, he was the first Indian surgeon to carry out Total Wrist replacement (ceramic on ceramic). Dr. Gupta has a wonderful record of initiating lots of surgical procedures in India. One of them is the setting up of hand and wrist fractures with locking plates. Dr. Vikas was the first Indian doctor to introduce the procedure of percutaneous fixation (< 1 cm incision) and vascularized bone grafting for nonunion scaphoid and Kein bocks disease. Dr. Gupta’s is known to possess a vast area of expertise in his domain. Some of his major functional areas includes- nearly all ailments of upper limb, Joint replacement in upper limb i.e. Finger, wrist & elbow, wrist & elbow Arthroscopy, intricate hand & Wrist pain, Elbow Trauma & wavering, hereditary troubles of hand and wrist, Minimally insidious procedures such as an endoscopic carpal tunnel release, endoscopic cubital tunnel release and wrist Instability improvement. Dr. Vikas Gupta has also earned a name by having approximately 40 publications in nationwide and global journals. He also gave more than 100 presentations in both national as well as international conferences. Dr. Gupta also gave a lecture on “congenital anomalies of hand” at the annual forum of the Bangladesh orthopedic society.
