Dr. Vinay Kumaran is is a Consultant and Head, Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery. He completed MBBS from G B Pant Hospital / Moulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in 1992, MS - General Surgery from G B Pant Hospital / Moulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in 1996. In 1998 joined the prestigious M Ch Gastrointestinal Surgery post-doctoral fellowship at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He worked with Dr. TK Chattopadhyay, Dr. GK Pande and Dr. Peush Sahni and acquired skills in advanced gastrointestinal surgery.

After completing his MCh, he was selected for the Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Marion Bessin Liver Research Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. In New York, Dr. Kumaran committed himself to two years of work in the lab working on Hepatocyte Transplantation with Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, one of the pioneers in the field. Later he undertook fellowship under Thomas E Starzl, the first person to perform a successful liver transplant and one of the most important contributors to the field of organ transplantation. After his stint in abroad, he returned to India and joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he could practice the skills acquired over 20 years of varied training. In 2012, after having performed 105 liver transplants at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr. Kumaran started practicing at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital where he heads the Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery Unit, one of the centers of excellence at the hospital.

Dr. Vinay Kumarna is a member of Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT), Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian National Association for Study of the Liver, American Society of Transplant Surgeons and International Liver Transplantation Society. Some of the services provided by the doctor are Pancreatic Surgery, Intestinal Transplant, Liver resection, GI/HPB Surgery and Pancreas transplantation etc.
