Dr. VK Jain

Dr. V.K. Jain is a renowned Neurosurgeon at the Max Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi. With degrees of MBBS from King George Medical College, Lucknow in the year 1974 and MCh (Neurosurgery) from NIMHANS, Bangalore in the year 1981, he attended the Technical Instruction and Study Course at the Brain Atlas Operators in June 1992 at Mundelein, IL, USA. Dr. Jain was also awarded the fellowship of Microneurosurgery from Fujita Health University for one year between November 1985 and October 1986. He also attended the Dosimetry and Dose Planning Course at Gamma Knife Centre, Komaki City Hospital, Nagoya, Japan in May 1999. He was a part of the International Workshop on Stereotactic Techniques held at Karolinska Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery, Stockholm, Sweden in October 1998. Dr. VK Jain was bestowed with the Visiting Fellowship to Hannover, Germany in July 2001. Prior to joining the Max Super Specialty Hospital, Dr. Jain has worked with many reputed institutions. He was the Assistant Professor and later the Associate Professor at NIMHANS, Bangalore. He then joined SGPGIMS, Lucknow, as the Additional Professor. Later on he joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and was appointed the Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department from February 2010 to September 2012. Dr. Jain’s areas of interest include Spine Surgery, Cerebro-Vascular Surgery, Base of Skull Surgery, Intraventricular Tumor Surgery and Craniovertebral Junction Surgery. He has authored the book “Craniovertebral Junction Anomalies – The Indian Experience” which was published in the year 1997. Many of his publications, articles and book chapters have been published in international and national journals. The most popular of these include “Described New Entity of Benign Subarachnoid Hemorrhage” and “Described New Technique for Surgery of Atlanto Axial Dislocation”. He was the Visiting Professor at Fujit Gakuen Health University, Toyoake, Aichi, Japan, from 3rd to 29th May 1999 and University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland, from 15th to 30th June 2001. Dr. Jain is the Vice President of Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons, Ex-President of a number of prestigious institutes which include Neurological Society of India, Indian Society of Cerebro-Vascular Surgery, Neuro Trauma Society of India, UP Neuro Science Society and Ex-Vice President of Asian Congress of Neurosurgery.
