The liver is divided into two lobes by the middle hepatic vein: the right lobe of liver and the left lobe of the liver.
The right lobe of the liver is larger than the left lobe of the liver. The right lobe liver has four sections divided by the portal vein. Each of these sections contains branches of the hepatic veins, portal veins, hepatic arteries, and bile ducts. The distribution of blood in the portal vein in the right liver is in such a manner which makes it more likely to damage either by consumption of alcohol or by other factors. Parasites migrate from the intestine up to the portal vein and more frequently affect the right lobe of the liver than the left lobe.
