Before starting the surgery, the doctor performs the physical examination of the patient and goes through his/her medical history. Every surgical procedure includes some risks and complications. Similarly, tympanoplasty also has the following risks:

• Pain, infection or bleeding

• Failure of the graft to heal

• Causing recurrent eardrum perforation

• Scarring or adhesions in the middle ear

• Narrowing of the ear canal
