Colon Cancer Treatment depends upon the stage of the colon cancer. Colon cancers that have not spread out can be treated withh surgery. Additionally chemotherapy can also be used.
Stage 0 colon cancer
In stage 0 the cancer has not grown beyond the inner lininng of the colon. Surgery is used to remove this kid of cancer
Stage 1 colon cancer
Stage I colon cancers have grown into the layers of the colon wall, but they have not spread outside the colon wall itself. Surgery is used to remove Stage 1 colon cancer
Stage 2 colon cancer
In stage 2 ,cancer has grown through the wall of the colon, and possibly into nearby tissue, but they have not yet spread to the lymph nodes. Surgery along with chemotherapy is used to treat such kind of colon cancers
Stage 3 colon cancer
In Stage 3 colon cancers have spread to nearby lymph nodes, but they have not yet spread to other parts of the body. Surgery along with chemotherapy is used to treat nearby lymph nodes along with chemotherapy.
Stage 4 colon cancer
In Stage 4 colon cancer has spread from the colon to distant organs and tissues. Colon cancer most often spreads to the liver, but it can also spread to other places such as the lungs, to distant lymph nodes. In most cases neither surgery no chemotherapy nor radiotherapy is going to fully cure. However the longevity of a person can be increased.
