7 Superfoods to Boost Metabolism

Metabolism is defined as a complex biochemical process to produce energy for various body functions like circulation of blood, breathing, food digestion, maintaining hormonal balance, growth and repair of cells. Metabolic rate is the rate at which the consumed calories are converted to energy. This rate varies from person to person. In addition to age, sex and genetics other factors that affect the metabolism of the person are food intake and daily activity. Berry fruits like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are not only rich in anthocyanins, but also contain polyphenols. This combination of antioxidants and polyphenols reduces the absorption of starches and fat in the body and boosts metabolism.
