Niharika

Bangalore

Niharika became incredibly sick on the night of the Holi festival. The parents thought it to be any kind of bacterial infection that affected her stomach because she must have taken something wrong. The parents, who were already in contact with Credihealth, asked for the doctor’s appointment. Being unaware of the symptoms of any concerning disease and the type of doctor they should seek, the parents first had a consultation with the general practitioner. The general practitioner gave a few medicines and asked the child to go back home and report after three days. Meanwhile, the parents allowed their daughter to go through a series of body checkups including x-ray, ultrasound, colonoscopy, and endoscopy because of the chances of the development of any severe medical condition.

How did Niharika receive help?

  • This time, the parents knew that their 15-year-old daughter was going through ulcerative colitis because of its detection and the similar symptoms in the medical reports.

  • Parents who went to the gastroenterologist of Manipal Hospital, Millers Road confirmed that the child was going through Crohn's disease- the kind of inflammatory bowel disease which affects the lining of the small intestine and produces inflammation.

  • Parents were astonished because they were blindsided by the reports they had in the past. The doctor of Manipal Hospital, Millers Road explained the key differences between Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

  • The parents started trusting the practices of the doctor and wanted the doctor to start the treatment as soon as possible.

The doctor who checked Niharika thoroughly said that NIharika has been going through a primary stage which could get treated with the use of a few steroids and injections. The doctor suggested the use of Remicade infusions, which he said would be the last option to treat the 15-year-old child without going deep into the matter of disease and surgeries. Niharika who is now 20 years old is going through the course of medications including immunosuppressants and is taking care of her body while exercising in the morning and taking a nutritive diet of green vegetables and fruits.
