Dr. Attique Vasudev is a godly doctor. Very patient and calm. I was very sacred before meeting him. I was thinking that my tendon tear is going to treated only by surgery. It was not getting better. But Dr. Attique Vasudev turned out to be 100 on 100. Definitely not a trigger happy doctor who would recommend surgery. He explained my medical condition to me. He explained very nicely how to take care of my shoulder at home. He advised me pain medicines and a gel for massage for 2 months. Genuine doctor. I will recommend him to everyone who has to choose a doctor for tendon tear problems. And, thank you Credihealth for very smooth process at the hospital.

Q: How is Arthroscopy Performed?

A:
The procedure usually involves putting the patient under anesthesia, the type depends upon the length of the surgical procedure. Local Anaesthesia is injected under your skin to numb the area, for example, around your knee. You will be awake through the procedure in this case. Regional Anaesthesia is administered in certain cases before it is injected between two lumbar vertebrae of your spine. This would lead to loss of sensation in the lower part of your body. General anesthesia is administered intravenously. You are placed in a proper position for the procedure which may be on your back or side. The limb to be operated upon is then placed in a Positioning device, and a tourniquet may be used to reduce blood flow. This might also increase visibility inside the joint. Another technique that might be adopted to improve visibility in your joints involves filling the joint with a sterile fluid which expands the area around the site of complications. A small incision is made around the joint for the viewing device which may be aided with additional small incisions at different points to allow the surgeon to insert surgical tools to grasp, cut, grind and provide suction as might be required for joint repair. Incisions will be small such that they will be closed with one or two stitches, or with narrow strips of sterile adhesive tape.

Q: What happens during Arthroscopy?

A:

In the procedure, you will first change into a patient gown with the assistance of the nursing staff. In the operation theatre, you will lie in proper posture and turn to your back or your side. A sterile fluid might also be administered into the incision to expand the area to increase visibility. Additional incisions might also be made that would allow the surgeon to cut, grasp and grind at the site as might be required for joint repair.

There are different types of surgeries, some of them are given as under:
