Lifestyle is the way of life adopted by an individual, a group or a society. The word “lifestyle” was first coined by Alfred Adler who tried to identify the several factors that govern the quality of life led by different individuals. The word style was derived from modernist art and applied to daily life activities to bring together these activities.

Other secondary health risks associated with sedentary lifestyle are indigestion and digestive system abnormalities, breathing problems, and long term depression.

We can assess our lifestyle by checking parameters like diet control, hygiene standards, and psychological indicators like self-confidence, self-contentment, happiness, and health records. Health records, diet check, and hygiene tests are a big indicator of how good your lifestyle is and whether you are at a risk of suffering from ill health due to your lifestyle.
7. How much exercise is needed for a healthy lifestyle?
Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Ideally, people should exercise regularly for a minimum of twenty minutes daily and for a maximum of two hours each day. The busy individuals, who are not able to devote time on a regular basis, may exercise on alternate days for half hour to one hour. The basic aim of exercising is to keep all organs and the mentality of the person in good shape leading to longevity. This can be further combined with good diet and healthy habits, to maintain light body and mind.

With so much written about diet control, it might be difficult for you to realise that food items are more important than diet plans. So food items which contribute to body balance taken in any combination will help you have a healthy lifestyle. Green vegetables, fruits, whole grains and healthy protein sources must therefore be present in daily diet of a person. Lot of water intake is also a part of healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly is complementary to taking good food.

Healthy behaviour refers to complete engagement and positive outcomes in one to one communications undertaken by a person. When a person is in a balanced state of mind, the behaviour is automatically cheerful, constructive and devoid of opinionated bias. As a result, even negative situations are tackled with positive ease.

The most important aspect of making lifestyle changes is the decision one takes. Sticking to the decision and keeping the determination even through odd times is important to help make the change. In order to be successful in making lifestyle changes, other important factors include planning a daily chart that removes habits considered unnecessary, maintaining a reminder in the form of sticky notes or alarms that help you follow the chart, sharing progress with family and friends, and checking for improvement in health conditions due to the lifestyle change.
